Packaging Items Together Versus Solo Packaging

When you receive an order from a customer, your first objective is to package the product and ship it to them as soon as possible. However, you may wonder about handling multiple orders. Do you need to ship them together or ship them separately? That’s what we are going to talk about here.

When it is a great idea to ship solo
There are many products that need to be taken good care of while they are being shipped. And it is quite difficult to ensure their safety if they are placed with other items. In this scenario, solo shipping is the best option to go for. For instance, if you are shipping flat screen TV, you are not going to place it with other flat screen TVs because there is a risk of collision between them during the shipping process. As a result, they might get damaged. Packing them separately and ensuring proper safety with the help of adequate amount of packaging supplies are the things that you are going to have to focus.

When it is needed for the items to be packed together
In certain cases, it is a good idea to pack items together and send them out to be shipped.

  1. The top reason you may need to ship items together is that you want to save on shipping costs. Remember, weight of the package is not the only factor that helps in determining the costs of shipping. Handling also needs to be taken into consideration. Suppose there are two packages which do not weight much. Shipping those packages separately can cost you extra money. On the other hand, you can combine those packages or combine their items to make one package. Handling one package is going to be easy as compared to the handling of two packages.
  2. You may be surprised to know that you can combine small fragile items to make one package. For instance, there is no point in making a separate package for each plate or dish. You are going to have to stack them separately in the box to secure them. The cardboard separators are going to provide optimum support to the dishes. These packages are quite easy to handle.
  3. If you are shipping large quantity of items to a single recipient, i.e. retailer, you can pack those items in a few large boxes. This way, the cost of each product will also be under control.

If you are not sure about what items should be shipped together and what items needs to be packed separately, you can consult with the professional packers.
