Short Comparison between Bubble Wrap and Foam

We all know how good it feels while playing with the bubble wrap. Popping the bubble is a stress relieving activity. However, bubble wrap is meant to be more than just a popping fun. By wrapping the items in the bubble wrap, you can ensure their maximum security.

Foam is another quite amazing packaging solution. This solution aims at providing lightweight cushioning to the items. Both bubble wrap and foam can be used to wrap the items as well as to fill the voids in the boxes. And both of the materials provide the required cushioning without adding unnecessary weight to the packages.

The case of bubble wrap
When you are packing fragile items, you want to make sure that those items do not break during the shipping process. This is where you can consider using bubble wrap. It is the primary ability to absorb the shock and prevent infliction of any damage to the items.

The types of bubble wraps are differentiated from the perspective of bubble sizes. There are also heavy duty bubble wraps which are used for the shipping of heavy machinery parts. These bubble wraps are also very useful when it comes to lengthy shipping and that too in extreme conditions.

Other types of bubble wrap mainly include perforated and non-perforated rolls, bubble pouches, and large sized rolls for UPS. Anti-static rolls are also available for the electronic items which are sensitive to electric charge.

The case of foam packaging
Another option that you can consider for the cushioning of fragile items is the use of Polystyrene foam. This foam consists of the tiny bubble in its structure. These bubbles amazingly absorb shocks during the shipping process. The foam is usually thinner. It means that after the wrapping, you are left with extra space in the box. You can fill this space with other products as well. This cushioning solution is ideal when you have to pack more items in a single box.

For the items that need to be packed together, such as dishes, you can use pre-cut foam sheets. And since these sheets can be handled easily, you can stack items pretty quickly. This way, you will be able to pack the items in the boxes in an efficient way.

To protect the corner and edges of the items, foam corners and edge protectors are used. These cushioning solutions prevent items from shifting in the box. Foam edges also act as buffers between the item and the box. The item remains safe when the box is damaged.
